China Telecom & Conflux Launch World’s First Blockchain SIM Card

• Conflux Network and China Telecom have debuted the world’s first blockchain SIM (BSIM) card.
• It is designed to be compatible with popular mobile systems such as Android and iOS, boasting 10-20 times larger storage space and several dozen times more computing power.
• The BSIM card offers secure digital identity protection, encrypted storage, key recovery functions, and even U-shield integration.


Conflux Network, the first regulatory compliant public blockchain in China and global communications network, China Telecom debuted their jointly developed Blockchain SIM (BSIM) card at the Xuhui District West Bank Artificial Intelligence Center in Shanghai.

Features of BSIM Card

The BSIM card has an appearance similar to traditional SIM cards but is fully compatible with mainstream mobile terminal systems like Android and iOS. It also has a 10-20 times larger storage space than traditional SIM cards and much greater computing power. Alongside traditional communication functions, the BSIM card can generate and store users’ public and private keys within the card for enhanced security against malware attacks. Additionally, it provides users with encrypted storage, key recovery functions as well as U-shield integration for further security of private keys.

First On-Chain Interaction

At the launch event of this technology, Dr Wu Ming from Conflux was able to successfully transfer a commemorative NFT of the partnership between China Telecom and Conflux by pressing a button within an app connected to his BSIM account. This marked the first on-chain interaction using this technology for public use.

Using this technology will provide mobile communication users with a safer digital identity through mobile terminals which they can use to access Web3 services as well as the metaverse more securely with minimal technical barriers.
